ANUU
ANUU Migratoristi is a hunting association founded on 29 March 1958 in Bergamo by attorney Antonio Bana together with a group of forward-thinking hunters, particularly devoted to migratory game. The Association was established to study, safeguard, and preserve Italy’s traditional migratory bird hunting practices.
On 20 March 2020, the Association mourned the passing of its long-serving President—and later Honorary President—Giovanni Bana, Antonio’s son. He left a strong legacy of ideas, organizational drive, and, above all, a well-established reputation in Italy and abroad, built through membership in various European and international organizations and bodies.
Recognized under Italian Law No. 157/92, ANUU Migratoristi is headquartered in Bergamo and has an extensive presence throughout Italy, with regional, provincial, and municipal branches. Over time, its interests and activities have broadened to include all forms of hunting, with the aim of promoting hunting as a legitimate practice in its own right.
Since 2010, the Association has been led by President Marco Castellani. Media relations—both social and traditional—are a strategic priority, ensuring hunters have spaces to make their voices heard while highlighting the cultural and management foundations on which hunting is built.
ANUU Migratoristi’s core mission has always been, and remains, to provide hunting with solid technical and scientific foundations, respecting the many hunting traditions of Italy and promoting the sustainable harvesting of wildlife resources. This approach is based on population censuses, monitoring, harvest plans, and the careful stewardship of habitats and territory.
The Association’s work is delivered through several operational areas, including: ornithological research; proactive environmental management in cooperation with organizations in other countries, the agricultural sector, and its stakeholders; the organization of training courses; ecological wardening and oversight (wildlife and habitats); the study and dissemination of hunting and environmental law at every level—from regional regulations to international conventions; the development of young leaders; publishing and editorial activities (including Migrazione & Caccia, Lettera del Migratorista, Lettera del Legale, social media groups, and more); and the organization of hunting-related sports activities such as clay pigeon shooting and dog trials.
