ALEX VALLEROTONDA
Alex Vallerotonda shares with the great Beppe Re his hometown (Cassino) and the two rivers that flow through it. Fascinated by science lessons at primary school, he fell in love with the water environment. He started fishing at the age of 9 in the ditches behind his house and then moved on to fish for trout on the Rapido and the rivers in his area.
One day he meets a fly fisherman and realises there is something different about other ways of catching fish, but the time is not yet ripe. It still takes a few years before he can buy his first fly-fishing equipment, soon after that the construction equipment, because he finds it wonderful to fool a fish with a fly lure made by his own hands.
He has been fly fishing and assembling his own fly fishing lures for 23 years. He has attended many of the pam - fly fishermen - gatherings in his area with his demonstrations at the clamp and participating in construction competitions such as the Trofeo Ciociaria, Basso Lazio, Monti Sibillini, and Sele. In 2007, he took part in the Trofeo Bisenzio and built lures on the stand of the then Mosca club Fibreno.
He tied flies for 'Innovative Flies' and was a member of the 'Mosca Club Basso Lazio', directing its construction sector. He is an honorary member of the 'Amici del Volturno' association. He occasionally holds fly-building evenings at clubs and associations. He occasionally writes articles in 'Fishing, fly & spinning'. He loves 'Clyde Style Flies' and all 'naughty' flies that are easy and quick to make. His motto at the clamp: "Few things put together well!"
He has frequented rivers in the Lazio-Abruzzo-Molise-Campania quadrilateral.
He currently lives in Emilia, from where he started hopping between the Apennines and the Alps.
